How sad is it that The Forever Purge is more realistic than the new F9 movie? Pretty sad, but so true. Josh Lucas once again ups his bad guy image like Ford v Ferrari and plays a jerk, albeit one that might have some redeeming qualities.
I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece but if you watch the other Purge movies, as in I just watched The First Purge, it’s really so much better.
There’s a fair amount of social commentary but no one gets by unscathed and I’m ok with that.
The line that did crack me up a little was where someone questioned Adela, played by Ana de la Reguera, about knowing how to use a gun. Her witty reply was good but after just seeing Army of the Dead where she more than stands up for herself, I’d say that was where she learned how to handle a gun.
