Guy Ritchie is well-known for his comedy movies like Snatch, The Gentlemen, Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and most recently, the highly underrated, Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre but he’s also delivered some straight up solid dramas with Wrath of Man and now The Covenant. The intensity starts in the first scene and never lets up. The brutality of war and the anxiety of trust in that situation of life and death is portrayed with vivid accuracy.
All characters in the movie are well-acted and no one comes across as a caricature. It’s almost 2 movies about 2 very different situations but each will keep you on the edge of your seat. Since it’s not a true story, we can’t assume it’ll turn out a certain way. One of the best movies I’ve seen lately.
