It’s interesting how certain events lead to others which in turn lead to even more. Several of those events led up to seeing The Gentlemen at a preview tonight at the Alamo Drafthouse. It’s not close to my house but I really enjoy the experience of a movie there.
First of all, even though the titles and tone may look similar, The Gentlemen is NOT The Kingsman. They may have some of the same characteristics but this is a Guy Ritchie movie all the way. Matthew McConaughey was born to play Mickey Pearson. A very strong and perfectly cast collection of actors make this a very fun movie. There is the subtle humor that Ritchie’s movies are known for but this one will have you laughing out loud at times. As the credits rolled I kinda got a Knives Out vibe. It’s a very twisted murder mystery with more than a few unexpected surprises. I hope viewers give it a chance because I don’t think they’ll be disappointed.
