I’m not sure if it’s because it’s Tom Hanks or if that it’s a significant movie going to Apple-TV instead of waiting for theaters to reopen or what, but there has been a lot of hype for Greyhound which is a little odd because it didn’t get much press at the beginning of the year. Tom Hanks is usually pretty much guaranteed box office but maybe someone knew something about this one.

Greyhound isn’t bad, but it is ALL Tom Hanks and though he plays the captain of the ship, there’s a lot of things this movie could have done better. For a movie set in this same time period, Midway is a much better movie. To be sure, it tells a story of something we’ve heard about very little in the movement of troops and supplies during WWII. Several story-lines were developed but never answered and some of the dialog would make Tom Clancy proud. Maybe I just wanted to like it better but I was a little disappointed.
