I hadn’t originally planned to see Where the Crawdads sing, in fact, I already had a ticket for The Gray Man and I cancelled it and saw WtCS instead. It’s based on what I understand is a pretty popular book and at first glance it’s very much a “chick flick”. But when you get into it, it’s a lot more than that. Daisy Edgar-Jones is a really good actress and plays the part of “Marsh Girl” with just the nuance you’d think of her character. She was in a movie earlier this year called, Fresh, which was also a romantic comedy, until the extreme hard right turn into horror.
If you haven’t read the book, the ending may not be what you expect but it keeps you wondering until the very end.
