Without Remorse was supposed to be shown in theaters in 2020 but after 3 delays, it went straight to Amazon Prime at the end of April, 2021. I had high hopes for it since I generally like Tom Clancy books that have been made into movies. I think The Hunt for Red October is a nearly perfect movie, taking the technical details of a Tom Clancy novel and adapting them in the best way for a movie. It’s one of the few roles that I like Alec Baldwin. The following films in the Jack Ryan saga are a little mixed with 3 more actors playing Jack Ryan.
This movie lives in the same “universe” and contains characters similar to the other movies. For the most part, I like Michael B. Jordan as an actor, especially in Creed and Creed II, though not as much in Black Panther. The thing is, he doesn’t look like he’s having any fun in his movies. He shows emotion but something is missing. As Wikipedia put it, “It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Jordan’s performance but called the film generic.” I wholeheartedly agree with that.
The story was forgettable and nothing about it really stood out. If they are thinking of making a franchise from it, the 2nd one better be a lot better than the first one.
