By coincidence, I watched 2 sequels from 2 really good movies within 12 hours. The first was Die Hard 2 the follow-up to the terrific Die Hard and the other was The Whole Ten Yards the sequel to the highly underrated The Whole Nine Yards. Both movies bring back a lot of the same characters as well as behind the scenes talent. Interestingly enough, the biggest change in each is that they have new directors.
As it turned out, Die Hard 2 was a really solid 2nd movie in the series that fell off quickly after this one. The Whole Ten Yards on the other hand was a complete disaster. The story was terrible and where the first movie was funny and edgy, this one had nothing even remotely like that. Yes, Die Hard 2 was still a bit unbelievable at times but it kept the same tone and humor of the original. The Whole Ten Yards wasn’t even close. Truly disappointing.
