Let’s face it, Star Wars movies just aren’t what they used to be…as in 40 years ago. I’m not a movie snob….ok, maybe a little, but it’s still all about the story for any movie and there’s so many “cool” effects and characters that the focus seems to be lost on the story sometimes.
Does it wrap up the Skywalker story?
Kinda.
It’s a lot like the last couple that tell an episode and move on. I’m not one of the people that thinks they need to scrap the last couple movies and start over, they just are what they are. I suppose it doesn’t help that I’m not a fan of Adam Driver or John Boyega. Anyways, go see it. It’s Star Wars and there’s still a lot to like about it and the way they handle Princess Leia is actually quite well done.
To be sure, the very best reveal is that Rey’s real mom is trained assassin, Villanelle. (That’s a joke, albeit not a funny one, not a spoiler. )
