Sometimes you just need some comfort food. For us movie people, sometimes we need comfort movies. Something we can quote by heart that just makes us feel good and for 2 hours everything is right in the world. If ever we need comfort food/movie, it’s now. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen Rush. I do remember the first time I saw it and the Hans Zimmer score with the roar of the F1 cars at the starting line. I was immediately sucked in and Ron Howard has made some really great movies but this is my favorite. It was late on a Friday night and I thought I’d just turn it on and immerse myself in the opening scene and after a few minutes turn it off and hit the pillow. Well, 2 hours later as the credits rolled, after showing the real life James Hunt and Niki Lauda, I did turn it off. There’s a reason that it’s a 10 jujubee movie for me; because it doesn’t let up and it just gets stronger as it goes along. Even knowing how it will end, it’s 2 hours of soaking it in and finishing with a smile on my face. I suppose I could have turned it off at any time, but why? Sometimes you just want some “comfort food”.
