Movies “based on a true story” are always tricky because it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s left out or what’s augmented. Paul Walter Hauser, who plays Richard Jewell, makes you care about him even as he has his reputation destroyed by the media and the FBI. The good guys are really good and the bad guys are incredibly slimy. There really isn’t much grey area. Even the way the entities that wrong him “apologize”, you’ll see how truly smarmy they are. Watching them recreate the Kenny Rogers concert will make you smile just because it’s SO cheesy.
