    IT AIN’T BARBIE!

(For those of you wondering, no, I’m not going to see Barbie. I do have standards!)

Going into Oppenheimer, I made a significant assumption that the movie would be primarily about the making of the atomic bomb. Though a large portion of the 3-hour movie focuses on that aspect of his life, the movie is about the man himself. When the movie turned out to be something other than expected, I was a little lost because I didn’t know much about him and especially the challenges he faced after making the bomb.

That wasn’t a bad thing and Christopher Nolan did a great job of making a movie for people like me that knew very little about the man himself.

Reading the Wikipedia page of J. Robert Oppenheimer after seeing the movie the first time and then seeing it again was a revelation, a whole new understanding of the man and everything that the movie was about.

Visually, the movie was incredible as were the music, the editing and all aspects that you’d expect of Nolan.

The other thing that I’ve told people is that the movies is for adults. Not so much because of the R rating but because you must stay engaged and think for yourself, thus the statement that, “It’s not Barbie”. No, I have no intention of seeing it but everything I’ve read indicates that you don’t have to think too hard about it until the last reel where it supposedly gets a little heavy-handed.

    Just see Oppenheimer again.
