Ok, this one is on me. I didn’t know anything about Monster Hunter other than it starred Milla Jovovich fighting monsters. Sounded decent enough for me. Besides, it had been 5+ weeks since I had seen a movie in theaters and I discovered that even though Minnesota theaters are dark, you can see movies in Wisconsin with no problems at all. Hudson is a 45-minute drive from my house but that was a small price to pay to see a movie on a big screen again. And, Monster Hunter is a good movie to see in theaters.

BUT, Monster Hunter is based on a video game, something that many of Milla Jovovich’s movies are. I don’t play video games and I don’t read comics so sometimes movies based off of those formats miss the mark for me. Though the effects were well-done, I had a hard time following a story that was taken from a video game that I knew nothing about.

In the end though, it was nice to just be in a movie theater again though.
