As the previews were shown over the summer I couldn’t wait to see it and then the next day I had no interest in it at all. When it finally came out I decided to see it. It’s almost 2 1/2 hours long and it’s about the most bizarre summer “festival” that you could ever see. There are scenes that will gross you out and others that will literally make you gasp. Others will make you squirm and others, though you see them coming a mile away, will suck you into the horror. I’m not surprised that quite a few people walked out of this movie. Me, I went to see it again. It was rereleased a bit later in a longer, director’s cut version that was almost 3 hours long. It was creepier and more outrageous than the first version.
