Yes, I know what people say about me going to movies so much. I can almost guess what they say when they hear I buy a ticket to a movie that I don’t even know what I’m going to see. As you can tell, I don’t really care.

Secret Movie Night is a perfect example. You buy your ticket and show up. Sit in your seat and wait for the movie to start before you know what you’re going to see.

The “secret movie” this time was Jerry Maguire.

I didn’t realize how long it had been since I saw the whole movie. It has been a while since we’ve lost Kelly Preston, Frank Gifford and Glenn Frey since I saw it completely.

Cameron Crowe is really a talented director. There were dozens of cameos from the sports world and they all fit seamlessly. Tom Cruise is good as an arrogant sports agent who falls from grace and Renée Zellweger, Jay Mohr, Cuba Gooding Jr., Regina King and Jonathan Lipnicki as the little boy, Ray are all really good.

I remember doing a class project in multimedia school that used a clip of this movie to showcase it.

But, nobody is better than Bonnie Hunt. Nobody ever is. She’s so funny and serious in such interesting ways, saying more with her eyes and face than most people can with a dictionary full of words.

For a popular but not blockbuster movie, it has taken a place in pop culture history with it’s lines like, “Show me the money!”, “Did you know that the human head weighs 8 pounds?”, “Don’t cry at the beginning of a date. Cry at the end, like I do”., “You complete me”., “You tell me to eat lima beans, I’ll eat lima beans”. And of course, “You had me at “hello”.

If you haven’t seen it in a while, it’s worth a new watch.
