Synopsis and Details
Will Hunting has a genius-level IQ but chooses to work as a janitor at MIT. When he solves a difficult graduate-level math problem, his talents are discovered by Professor Gerald Lambeau, who decides to help the misguided youth reach his potential. When Will is arrested for attacking a police officer, Professor Lambeau makes a deal to get leniency for him if he will get treatment from therapist Sean Maguire.

An early morning post on Twitter on Wednesday morning set me up for an unexpected, but happy surprise on Thursday. Paul Fletcher, who I’ve chatted with online about movies tweeted that for this month’s Secret Movie Night at the Emagine Willow Creek was on Thursday and tickets were still available. He was the guest who got to choose the movie.
He gave enough hints online that I was pretty sure it was Good Will Hunting. Sure enough, the credits begin and it’s Good Will Hunting, a movie I haven’t seen in 25+ years.
The premise of Secret Movie Night is that you buy a ticket but don’t know what movie you’re going to see. This theater has been doing it for years and it’s been a huge success. I can see why. I’ll definitely do that again.
Plus, Good Will Hunting is such an iconic movie with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in the beginning of their careers. Not only did they act in it but they also wrote it. Give it another watch if you haven’t seen it in a while. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it even more today.
