It had been 3 weeks since I had seen a movie in the theater because of various reasons and even though the options were limited, I just needed to sit in a dark theater and have no distractions and watch a movie. It’s been a very busy time in my life but this particular Sunday afternoon was a time where I could make it work. In fact, I saw The Wizard of Oz immediately after it.
I’ve made no secret about how the experience of watching a movie in a theater is so much different that watching it at home, regardless of the size of the screen and that was once again the case when I saw Ghostbusters again for the first time in years. As much as I like the actors in the movie, I think Rick Moranis might be my favorite. He steals every scene he is in. The movie itself has some weak spots but overall it effectively combines comedy, action, scares and other genres quite well. It’s also one of the few movies that start off with the hit theme song over the opening credits.
