This is going to sound very weird but Deadpool and Wolverine was like a really good Seinfeld episode.
Ok, hear me out. Seinfeld is famously a show about nothing. Each episode comes up with a little bit of a plotline in order to have the cast spit out one-liners for 30 minutes. That was Deadpool and Wolverine except it was for 2 hours.
The story isn’t much and my opinion is that even the story is part of the joke in that everyone is confused by the multiverses in the superhero movies anyways so why not use that to your advantage. That “story” is then used as an opportunity for the characters, mostly Deadpool, to shoot out one-liners for 2 hours.
You know what? It works.
I think it works great. The movie is funny with laugh out loud jokes that are sometimes in your face and others that are incredibly subtle. Either way, most of them hit their mark and make for a very entertaining movie.
Now, I need to see it again to catch all the ones I missed the first time.
