Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story has already been making many people’s Top 10 list for 2024 so when it was released on digital, I thought I’d check it out. I didn’t have a chance to see it in theaters, but most documentaries don’t require that kind of viewing.
I knew the basics about Christopher Reeve, but his story was much more than Superman and his horse-riding accident. The movie didn’t seem to gloss over the less than desirable parts of his life and talked about his relationship with his father and others that weren’t always pleasant. Of course, the Superman movies were a big part of his life and there is a significant amount of the movie dedicated to that.
The main focus of the movie was his family, and they were featured prominently in the interviews and footage. Though at parts it was very sad, in the end it aimed to be inspirational as well and I felt it was successful at that.
