Mystery movies are a crapshoot. You walk in not knowing if what you’re going to get is something you want to see or not, or something you know nothing about that you may either be pleasantly surprised or extremely disappointed about the 2 hours of your life that you’ll never get back.
I looked at what is coming out this week and narrowed it down that it would be Kraven the Hunter or September 5. I expected Kraven because when the Golden Globes were announced, they said that there have been very few screenings for Sep. 5. That was fine because I had hoped to see Kraven.
But, the Paramount logo shows at the beginning and then I see a producer credit for a German company and I wondered if maybe it would be Sep. 5.
Sure enough, it was.
I’ve only been to 1 other movie where no one moved at the end, Saving Private Ryan. It was dead silent. No one got up for at least 5 minutes. The credits rolled with no music underneath them.
It was the story of the ABC TV production of the 1972 Munich Olympic hostages. You know what’s going to happen and yet it’s so intense and so unbelievable that you just sit there stunned.
