I’m not sure why I wanted to see Nosferatu. I don’t remember a Dracula movie that I actually remember but maybe it was because nothing else was out and I needed to use my movie money so I chose something that I thought might be interesting.
Truth be told, the movie was kinda slow and dark, but that was the intent. It was also disturbing in the subject matter, again by intent. As I watch movies I wonder throughout the movie what my final jujube rating is going to be. Unfortunate, Nosferatu was trending down as it went on but then the ending came along and it saved the movie and gave it an ending I wasn’t expecting but enjoyed. I don’t know if hardcore Nosferatu fans liked it or if it stayed true to the source material but it ended up being ok.
Robert Eggers is an interesting director and no one plays a bad guy better than Bill Skarsgård. It has been said that an extended version will be coming out when it’s released on digital so I’m curious to see what that’s like. Probably not just longer but darker and even more disturbing.
