Another documentary to add to my list. I’ve always liked the movie, Alien and Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors so I’ve had my eye on this for a while. I had some time so I watched it straight through. To me, documentaries come with a stereotype of being boring and slow. Some of the ones I’ve seen lately have not even been close to that, others have danced pretty close to that line.
Actually, as much as I wanted to like this, it missed the mark somehow. The origins of the movie were presented and that was kind of interesting with the writer, Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger, the artist that designed the creatures. A lot of time was spent on the chest-bursting scene and that was it. The movie has so many other interesting aspects that seemed to have been lost. If you are a hardcore Alien fan, I’m sure there will be things that you like about it but it could have been so much more.
