If you’ve ever seen the TV show, Family Guy, you’ll see scenes in an episode that go on for a couple extra “beats”. The scene is a little uncomfortable because you feel like it needs to be over.

In a Violent Nature is full of those kinds of moments, so many that they kind of lull you to sleep. I may have even nodded once or twice during the movie with a handful of these scenes. The movie shows a killer getting revenge and most of the movie is from his point of view, kinda over his shoulder as he walks through a forest or along a path or wherever he’s going. To see him just walking for what seems like 5 or 6 minutes makes you uncomfortable with the amount of time they spend on that. The methods he uses to kill his victims run from the normal slasher kills to some very unique and crazy deaths. …and then more of the slow, deliberate pace.

As the movie was almost over, I was thinking about my review and what I would write about it. I was planning on 5 jujubes and thought that would sum it up well because it was intentionally slow…and then the ending came.

I won’t give it away but the scene shown is of a different character and once again it goes on uncomfortably long and you’re expecting something to happen and then what does happen is nothing like what you thought it would be.

It’s not a copout or weak ending and some won’t like it but with the deliberate pacing of the movie to that point, I thought that it stuck the landing.
