Can you believe it’s been almost 40 years since Against All Odds was first released? I have a list of movies that I’d like to rewatch when I’m feeling in the mood for a certain type of movie and Against All Odds itched that scratch this weekend. I remembered most of the story and it was enjoyable to watch it again after so many years. Most of it actually holds up well for what it is. Don’t get me wrong, the writing is kinda weak but the story is interesting with no characters that you’d really want to be friends with.
If you don’t remember it well, you’ll be waiting for the well-known theme song from Phil Collins, only to discover again that it plays over the closing credits.
This was director Taylor Hackford’s follow-up to the hugely successful An Officer and a Gentleman. Expectations were really high and there was a lot of disappointment that it didn’t achieve that level of success but it was a solid effort, nonetheless.
