I wasn’t sure that I wanted to see A Man Called Otto. On the one hand, Tom Hanks was finally playing a fictional character but seeing him play an old, cranky guy didn’t sound all that great. Plus, if someone is familiar with the book, it isn’t exactly all fun and games.
As it turned out, I didn’t have a fun time at the movie. It was ok and Hanks plays and old, cranky man just fine but some of the storyline was frustrating and I didn’t like the fact that I identified with the man more than I should sometimes.
It hasn’t exactly been a box-office smash but it is what it is.
