Those of you that have asked what I thought of Parasite, the movie that cleaned up at this year’s Oscars, I told them that it was pretty good, but just wasn’t my choice for Best Picture of the Year.
When this unique time started, I made a list of movies that I’d like to watch again or for the first time. Snowpiercer was one that I’ve always heard good things about and since it had an apocalyptic theme, I thought now would be as good as any to check it out. (No, I’m not a doomsayer, but these times help me to see these kinds of movies in a different light)
So, here’s the connection…Snowpiercer was directed by Bong Joon-ho, the same director as Parasite and several other movies, some of which I’m planning to watch soon. My opinion, if Parasite won Best Picture this year, then Snowpiercer should have beaten out 12 Years a Slave in 2014. It contains many of the same themes as Parasite and takes them a step further. The story, the visuals, the acting are all top-notch and you’ll never see Captain America (Chris Evans) the same way again. It’s not extremely graphic but the brutality of the story will stick with you well after the credits roll. Don’t wait any longer, check it out.
